The Stag at Offchurch - Pub in Warwickshire
Welsh Road, Leamington spa, CV33 9AQ, Warwickshire
England,
United Kingdom
This lovely old thatched building tempts you to step inside. You’ll probably stay for lunch or supper, the food is a real draw, perhaps roasted beetroot and locally cured Oxprings ham salad, followed by roasted turbot with crushed new potatoes, fine green beans and a clam and Pernod emulsion, finished off with white chocolate and vodka parfait. The copper bar gleams, walls and beams are painted cream to maximise the light and a couple of wallpapered feature walls add interest. Happy attentive staff make everything run smoothly, so pull up a colourful tub chair and sit at dark wooden tables on stripped floors in the bar, cosy up by the wood-burner or open fire; or spill onto the terrace, you’re on the outskirts of the pretty village of Offchurch with neat Warwickshire countryside all around. Well-heeled locals make the place feel nicely busy.

- We are just 5 minutes by car from the charming Royal Spa town of Leamington Spa. Featuring stunning Georgian architecture, amazing independent boutiques and expansive green parkland- the perfect place to while away the morning before visiting us for lunch.
- In the time of Edward the Confessor, the church and village belonged to Leofric, the fifth Earl of Mercia, and husband of the legendary Lady Godiva.
- According to Dugdale and Camden, the Saxon king of the Mercian’s, Offa, had a palace here, on the site of the present Bury.
- We're in the middle of beautiful English countryside and there are a number of walking routes around. Park the car in our carpark, go for a ramble to work up an appetite then finish off with a nice pub lunch. Discover the Millennium Way or the River Leam.
