The Star Inn at Sancton - Pub in Yorkshire
Sancton, Market Weighton, YO43 4QP, Yorkshire
England,
United Kingdom
Once upon a time, every farming village in the Yorkshire Wolds had a pub that was the beating heart of the community. Thanks to Ben and Lindsey Cox, this 800-year-old building is just that: the welcome is warm, the fires are lit and the comfortable, laid-back vibe is just wonderful. It's still very much a place for locals to pop in for a pint – beer is from the Copper Dragon and Wold Top breweries – but you must stay to eat. Ben is making a name for himself and the menu is tempting. Try Yorkshire pudding with confit oxtail and onion gravy (Ben was the Yorkshire Pudding champion for two year's running) or Anna's Happy Trotter belly pork, braised kale and bacon with black pudding and Harrogate Blue bonbon and cyder reduction. Much of the produce comes from their allotment and orchard – a real treat.
