Arty village pub run by young, enthusiastic couple: he paints, she sings, the food & drink is spot on - mainly local & organic

Ollie (MasterChef semi-finalist) and Lauren are brimming with energy and ideas for their flavourful pub. From the art adorning the walls (much is Ollie’s) to the live music (Lauren’s also a musician) to the yummy food whizzing out of the kitchen they do it all with flair. Deep in Wiltshire’s horse-racing country The Wheatsheaf – thatched, 1750s - sits in a peaceful village; the cosy carpeted bar has a traditional feel with wood-burners, a small piano and locals supping Ramsbury Gold. Don’t miss Ollie’s ‘modern peasant food’, perhaps red pepper and tomato stew with duck egg, kale and sourdough followed by cobnut and white chocolate cheesecake. They believe in a farm-to-fork ethos so the menu is bursting with all things local: artisan charcuterie made by Ollie’s dad on his nearby farm, craft lager, organic wines, homemade liqueurs. And they have great live music nights.

Pizza and drinks are currently available through the pub's takeaway service.
