The George Townhouse - Pub in Warwickshire
8 High Street, Shipston-on-Stour, CV36 4AJ, Warwickshire
England,
United Kingdom
Celebrate the refurbishment of this gloriously handsome inn with a pint of Brakspear Best Bitter at the long bar that gleams with speciality gins and wonderful wines. Slap-bang in the centre of pretty Shipston, the George is a treat of a place to eat, drink and be merry. Full of snug corners to settle and private spaces for family gatherings, you'll struggle to find a more cheering spot so close to Stratford and the Cotswolds. There's a choice of log burners to sit beside as you tuck into menus that make the most of local suppliers (pork and beef from the award-winning Todenham Manor Farm; artisan bread). Our Welsh rarebit with roasted tomato was excellent, topped up with a hearty mug of potato and leek soup, but you might fancy wild mushroom and tarragon risotto with spring onions and truffled crispy egg. Smashing.
