United Kingdom
Community spirit rings throughout and everyone is welcome, including the dog. Just a short stroll up from the beach, this old corner boozer oozes artful charm and hipster-cool. Décor is shabby-chic, the mood is laid-back, and the craft beer list is curated by an expert palate. With Tess and Andrew at the helm, the Crown celebrates fantastic local produce and menus bristle with local artisan producers: freshly caught fish, seasonal, local vegetables, and homemade bread by Emmanuel Hadjiandreou. Enjoy a pint of Romney Marsh Best with a beer-battered fish finger sandwich, or go the whole hog and tuck into venison cottage pie, roast vegetables and seasonal greens. Anything goes, from crafting groups, art exhibitions and board games to events such as Oktoberfest and bread competitions. Super special.

Local points of interest from Tess & Andrew Swan:
Local points of interest from
Tess & Andrew Swan:
- We choose the best of local produce and suppliers to make the food and drink at The Crown as special as possible. Come and try something new!
- The Crown is right at the bottom of the beautiful East Hill country park. You can walk along the cliffs all the way to Fairlight and back, we are in the perfect place for a drink and some dinner when you get back. You can even see France if you're lucky!
- The Crown is in the heart of the Old Town of Hastings - lots of little antique shops, gift shops, vintage clothes, bikes and an organic bakery and deli. Perfect for shopping and exploring all year round. There is an independent cinema too.
- All of our artwork on the walls changes every month and it is always for sale. We pick the best of local talent; fine art, illustration, printing....Hastings is full of creative talent. We are a short walk from the Hastings Contemporary art gallery too.
- We are only a short stroll from the beach, which hosts the largest beach-launched fishing fleet in Britain. This is where we get our fish from!
- We spend a lot of time choosing the most interesting drinks and as we are a freehouse we can choose whatever we like! You'll find local craft beer from microbreweries just up the road such as Three Legs, and apple juice from our friends farm.
