A very beautiful setting for this village Inn with superb food and calming bedrooms. Stride the Shropshire hills, return to much comfort

The drive here from any direction is virtually traffic free and the south Shropshire hills will have soothed any 'getting away' stress, so you'll be even more happy to arrive at this nurturing Inn. It opened first as a B&B but due to popular demand from the villagers morphed into a pop-up pub, then a restaurant with rooms. It juggles all these balls in a light, relaxed manner. Delicious smells come from the kitchen where Head Chef Harry Bullock's artistry concentrates on seasonal menus sourced as locally as possible. This is prime walking country so set off on one of the many walking paths that are close to the village, spot castles and birds, or cycle on hushed roads. Return for a pint of Salopian or Monty's, or a quiet read in the upstairs reading room. If you don't feel relaxed here you probably never will be.

"I had a good feeling as soon as I walked in, a comfortable, calm space with good local art on the walls, a warm welcome and the most delicious smells coming from the kitchen. I was not disappointed and enjoyed a most excellent lunch of impeccable local provenance. The walking to all points of the compass is wonderful. Walk up an appetite and then satisfy it at The Coach House - and if you want to repeat the process, stay the night."
