A sprint from London: a Cotswolds pub modernised with sympathy and care. Happy staff, top local ales, and set lunch a steal

The family behind The Ebrington Arms has renovated this 17th-century award-winning inn, around the corner from Blenheim Palace, to its former glory. Wood floors sweep from side bar to main bar to dining room, burners in brick fireplaces belt out heat and the set menu is a steal. Smiling staff ferry own-brewed Yubby Bitter, Goldie and Yawnie to locals, dog walkers and drinkers; the rest are here for the food: roast venison and faggot croquette with beetroot dauphinoise, kale and juniper; blackberry and frangipane tart. And the best chips in Oxfordshire! Sunday lunches are popular, and vegans have their own menu. The pub won three stars from the Soil Association for its commitment to organic food but you'll also find organic wine. There's a nifty selection of malt whiskies, or try a pint of their home-brewed in the garden.

Local points of interest from
Claire & Jim Alexander:

  • Less than a ten minute drive to the famous Blenheim Palace. Sir Winston Churchill himself used to be a regular at 'The Killy'.
  • We’ve been Oxford Mail’s Restaurant of the Year and their Pub of the Year, and hold 2 AA Rosettes for our food – prepare to feast in style!
  • 3 Stars Organic award from Soil Association - so expect most of our meat to be organic and vegans to be catered for. We strive to source as ethically as possible thoughout our pub.
  • Close by are Bicester Shopping Village and Oxford if you fancy treating yourself! The pub is perfectly poised for cultural days out in Oxford or shopping at Bicester and Daylesford before returning to a country foodie pub with style.
  • Independently owned for 8 years by the team behind The Ebrington Arms.
  • In 2020, we've added a new private dining room so book your special occasion with us!
