You’ll feel beautifully cossetted here by Julie and her charming team as you loll on comfy sofas in front of huge log fires while easy-going jazz tinkles in the background and your eyes are drawn to Michael Cooper’s sculptures (you can buy them too). The kitchen turns out delicious dishes: perhaps Orkney scallops with nasturtium or roast halibut with lobster followed by Amalfi lemon parfait and burnt meringue; the wine list is extensive and carefully chosen.
