The Olde Ship - Pub in Northumberland
7-9 Main Street, Seahouses, NE68 7RD , Northumberland
England,
United Kingdom
A nautical gem – of which the Glen dynasty has been at the helm for a century, their enthusiasm ever undimmed. The coastal inn sparkles with maritime memorabilia reminding you of Seahouses' heritage and the days when Grace Darling rowed through the waves to rescue stricken souls. Settle in by a glowing fire with a decent pint (no fewer than ten ales!). In the recently refurbished Cabin Bar you are treated to hearty pub food: ham hock terrine, chicken and mushroom casserole, fish chowder and bosun's fish stew, ginger trifle... then order coffee and mints in the lounge. The whole place creaks with history. Gaze across the harbour to the Farne Islands, catch the ferry, or set off for a bracing coastal walk to Bamburgh Castle.
