A smart, friendly pub in north west London with a charming welcome. Food is good, Sunday roasts draw a crowd, and Notting Hill is close

On the Harrow Road, opposite Kensal Green cemetery - a peaceful place to wander (or you can book a tour) - is this historic inn all freshly refurbished. Airy and light with a nautical theme giving a nod to its namesake William IV - sailor king and friend of Nelson - all are welcomed to this friendly neighbourhood pub. The modern British food is a draw: there are popular Sunday roasts, and a huge outdoor fireplace for barbecues and hog roasts. Beer battered fish and triple chips is their signature dish, while a buffet menu caters for parties of 15 or more. Sip Dorothy’s Gin and have a spot of lunch in the garden out the back. Portobello Market and Notting Hill are a 15-minute stroll and it’s only a five-minute walk to Kensal Green tube for the Bakerloo line.

Bookings at William IV:

  • This historic pub was named after William IV, AKA the sailor king who reigned from 1830 to 1837.He served in the Navy so you will find nautical decorations in the pub and hotel.local historians suggests there was a pub on this site even before that time.
  • As a completely independent business, we are proud to feature small producers on our wine list and local suppliers on our menu. We are always bringing exciting new dishes and drinks as the season dictates.
  • Named after William's lover, Dorothy’s Gin Garden is where you can enjoy al fresco dining and the occasional BBQ.You’ll find our gin selection displayed in our beautiful French armoire with some surprising gins alongside London classics.
  • Notting Hill’s bustling street market erupts every Saturday outside your bedroom window. Nibble ethnic food, buy organic flowers or ridiculous clothes, watch the cool people.
  • One of the biggest cemetery of London is just opposite the. Pub. Opened in 1833 and comprises 72 acres of grounds, including two conservation areas, adjoining a canal. The cemetery is home to many species of bird and other wildlife. It is worth a visit!
  • The team at the William IV would be delighted to help you in making the most of your stay in London and be sure you will be welcome as a visiting friend.
