The Bakers Arms - Pub in Hampshire
High Street
Droxford, Southampton, SO32 3PA, Hampshire
England,
United Kingdom
Set in the attractive Meon Valley, this small village pub is a bit of a find for lovers of modern British cooking. For locals, there's the added plus of Droxford's Bowman Ales – and the post office and village stores parked on the side. Inside has a relaxed, traditional charm and a winter fire. The L-shaped, opened-up space is light and cheery, the customary miscellany of old wooden furniture and a few bar stools offset by a cosy dining room vibe. The kitchen's chalkboard menu pleases all with its use of prime local produce and seasonal dishes with punchy flavours and, in this rolling countryside, the local meats are a forte; organic Hyden Farm pork belly with smoked eel from the river Test, local sausages with mash and shallot gravy. An excellent meeting place for a civilised crowd.
