A welcoming pub with gorgeous food in a sleepy village with heaps of history and the famous Cotswolds on the doorstep

Take a pint to the terrace on a summer's day and watch village life tick by. This spruced-up 17th-century inn is as inviting as can be, thanks to new owner Tom and his team. The food is locally sourced and delicious, the gins zing, and the ales come straight from the cask. What's more, for the Cotswolds, the wines are very well priced. Tuck into the likes of pan fried scallops and chorizo followed by slow cooked pork belly with black pudding mash, leaving room for lemon posset with charred pineapple. Tourists flock to Bourton on the Water with its five little bridges (two miles). The famous Daylesford Farm Shop is a 20-minute drive... pop by for an organic lunch, or a picnic for the Windrush Way. Westwards is leafy Cheltenham (15 miles), with Regency streets, a theatre, posh shops, and a racecourse in the lee of the hills.

  • Our most amazing feature is our location. We are right in the heart of the Cotswolds and instead of being a tourist hot-spot, Cold Aston is definitely far from the madding crowd! A true place to relax but still perfect to explore the surroundings
  • Bourton-On-The-Water, commonly referred to as The Venice of The Cotswolds for good reason. Stunning town about a 5 minute drive away. In high-season it is a tourist trap but in the mornings and early evenings it is heaven, just avoid the coaches....
  • Daylesford Farm Shop - always worth a visit for a touch of organic heaven. Based around the Bamford's working farm you can get anything here and is always fun to people watch
  • Adam Henson's Farm Park. If you want to pet a guinea pig, cuddle a rabbit of even feed a new-born lamb this is the place for you. Great for families or even adults on their own.
  • Cotswold's Wildlife Park: Lions, giraffes and tigers only a 20 minute drive away. The wildlife park is set around the grounds of an old country house and you can easily spend a great day here. Animals are looked after exceptionally!
  • Walking... If walking is your thing then this is just the place for you. From 1 mile ambles to 10 mile hikes along the Cotswolds' way we can suggest many a circular walk to keep you busy. Bring your walking boots!
