A cosy locals’ bar, amazing beers, flavoursome food ... and you can walk to Hidcote and Chipping Campden

The glorious gardens at Hidcote Manor and Kiftsgate Court are a ramble away from the award-winning Ebrington Arms, lovingly restored and revived by Claire and Jim. Little has changed in the cosy 17th-century bar, hub of the community and beloved by locals and tourists. Bag a seat on the settle and sup own-brewed Yubby, Goldie or Yawnie, or seek out the dining room next door. On a fine day, soak up the views from the patio. Worn stone floors, fresh flowers and a delightful mishmash of tables set the scene for some terrific pub food cooked from mostly local produce. Dishes are simple yet full of flavour, so dive in to scallops with celeriac purée and black pudding; calves' liver with garlic mash and caramelised onions; and apple, strawberry and ginger crumble. Stratford-upon-Avon is close, too. A properly unpretentious inn, run by the nicest people. One of the best.

Local points of interest from
Claire & Jim Alexander:

  • Gorgeous walks around Foxcote Manor and up to the famous Hidcote Manor National Trust and Kiftsgate (private) gardens. Chipping Campden is on the doorstep, said to have the most beautiful High Street in all of England. Perfect base for Cotswold villages
  • Independently owned for 13 years we are certified organic by the Soil Association for our commitment to organic food (bedroom toiletries too!). Complimentary sherry in bedrooms on arrival and all rooms have gorgeous country views
  • We brew three of our own organic beers - our 'Yubby bitter' is named after the old village name of Yubberton and locals still talk of going 'up the Yubby' meaning the pub. Lots of delicious organic wines to choose from too
  • Full of character, the building is nearly 400 years old and has been a pub for over 300 years! Expect roaring open fires, original flagstone floors and a friendly bunch of locals mingling with tourists that have managed to uncover our hidden gem!
  • The Good Pub Guide's 2019 Dining Pub of the Year, we have had 2 AA Rosettes for 9 consecutive years and have just been named one of The Telegraph's Top 'Foodie Pubs with Rooms'.
  • All of the famous Cotswold villages and towns are within easy reach but we are also only 11 miles from historic Stratford Upon Avon if you fancy a performance at the RSC or immersing yourself in Shakespeare's birthplace.
