The Old Smithy Inn - Pub in Devon
Welcombe, Bideford, EX39 6HG, Devon
England,
United Kingdom

The main part of the building is 13th-century so there are ancient flagstones on the floor, the ceilings are low, the walls very thick, the windows small. It's the perfect pub for a Daphne du Maurier plot to unfold, but you also get home cooked classics (fish and chips, homemade burgers) on the menu (some with a twist) from ingredients sourced locally. Irish owners Murrough and Gráinne believe passionately in the pub being a social space and they encourage folk to wind down and enjoy the 'craic'. They also have a fine reputation for putting on live music events so do check the website before you come. You'll find hand-pumped ales, a decent wine list and a lovely garden to spill out into on sunny days.
