A Bobby Dazzler of a country pub with unexpectedly bold food in the heart of the stunning Peak District for great walks and cycling

It's breathtakingly beautiful here. You're tucked into a green valley with a rushing river and surrounded by enormous open skies, crags, heather and big views; this is prime walking country and cyclists will be happy too. Inside, ancient flagstones rub shoulders with fifties style benches while the round restaurant room is a great spot for a super lunch or supper. Food is fresh, with tapas, sharing plates and plenty of vegan choices. Those who prefer a pub classic won't be disappointed - the award-winning chef's philosophy is to take great local ingredients and not mess about with them too much. Crystal clear local cask ales will slake your thirst, and the wine list offers Chablis and Amarone by the glass. On sunny days you'll tumble into the lovely garden overlooking the river; children can charge about and you can bring your dog too.
