The Cornish Arms - Pub in Cornwall
Churchtown
St Merryn, Padstow, PL28 8ND, Cornwall
England,
United Kingdom

It could be the blueprint for how a good country inn should be. It's unpretentious and authentic, there's a buzzy atmosphere with locals rubbing shoulders with walkers and holiday makers, and the food, as expected when Rick Stein is involved, doesn't miss a beat. We're not talking gastropub or fine dining but good honest dishes cooked well – scampi in the basket, rump steak and chips, treacle tart and custard. The atmospheric bar is where the locals down pints of Tribute – the pub is owned by the St Austell Brewery. There's a family room too, and a pool table and a wood-burner and a big garden for sunny days. The much missed canine star of Rick's TV shows would have loved a trip here, and no doubt have been thrilled by two of the beers on offer – Chalky's Bark and Chalky's Bite.
