In rolling countryside close to the beautiful NT Antony Gardens, and 10 mins from the dramatic Rame peninsula, Cornwall's Forgotten Corner

A charismatic, community-minded village pub with local food and great booze an absolute priority. Head chef and forager Jack Clayton (ex Gurnard’s Head) sees to it that almost all fresh ingredients are sourced within 10 miles: from the nearby coast, and the Antony Estate. Working with executive chef Emily Watkins (ex Fat Duck and winner of BBC's Best British Menu), the team conjures up a changing seasonal menu making the most of Cornwall's bounty when it is at its finest. Sample fabulous cakes and coffee in the former skittle alley and, in its role of village shop, you can buy papers, eggs and other essentials, like craft beers and wine. Locals and visitors mingle by the old fire, under original beams, in the rustic-smart bar/dining room. Do visit Antony’s beautiful house and gardens, or spend a happy day at the beach.

Local points of interest from
Tremayne Carew Pole:

  • The beautiful riverfront walks, stunning magnolias, wildflowers, rhododendrons and is an International Camellia Garden of Excellence. It's also Alan Titchmarsh's favourite garden!
  • For children buy some nets from our farm shop and head to Portwrinkle beach for some serious rock-pooling.
  • For serious walkers it's hard to beat the beautiful coastal path route that runs from Rame Head to Mount Edgcumbe through the charming fishing villages of Kingsand and Cawsand.
  • The National Trust own Antony House, the home of the Carew Pole family. The beautiful Queen Anne house is well worth a visit, as are the expansive lawns for busy little legs.
  • Beach lovers need to head to Whitsand Bay with it's two-mile long stretch of sand with plenty of room for exhausting the dog, as well as some rough breaks for keen surfers.
