Another Brighton star - just as fabulous as the rest of its Ginger sisters – in buzzing Kemptown, a stroll from the pier

This gem of a pub is tucked away in Brighton’s trendy Kemptown just a short stroll from the promenade. The Gingerman group have nailed it again with another trendy, chilled out, friendly sort of place. Expect hearty, traditional-with-a-modern-twist fare: beef jerky popcorn, mushroom soup with cep powder and parmesan, braised ox cheek with bone marrow polenta, and some very moreish liquid desserts! Outside it’s an attractive townhouse - inside find classic stripped floorboards, a wood panelled bar and a wood-burner juxtaposed with interesting art (for sale) and bright red leather banquet seating. There’s a mix of locals and out-of-towners who come to sample the menu or just for a drink, there's an exciting selection of local ales, wines and spirits. And the best of Brighton is right here: hit the arcades and the pier or shop till you drop.

  • Kemptown is a fun and quirky community which runs along the east side of Brighton. Seafront crescents with beautiful Regency style buildings, a busy little high street with a great collection of independent shops, and some lovely little cafes.
  • Brighton Pier - 10 minute walk along the seafront
  • Sealife Centre - close to the Pier with a whole array of marine wildlife
  • Royal Pavillion - a Brighton landmark and King George IV's former palatial holiday home
  • Antique shops and Flea markets - perfect browsing to while away the afternoon
