Hare & Hounds - Pub in Bedfordshire
The Village
Old Warden, Biggleswade, SG18 9HQ, Bedfordshire
England,
United Kingdom
Set in a forested fold of countryside, with Emma and Ben at the helm, the Hare & Hounds has a loyal following and a youthful spring in its step – from the dozen-strong cocktail list to the jaunty menu: “the freshest local ingredients we can get our mitts on”. Try Woburn Estate venison steak and a Viking seafood chowder, or grilled octopus, lemon grass and potato salad with bacon crumb, smoked salmon butter and samphire. Hares loom large in the decor – in hats, in ballgowns – and the overall feel is country-casual, while the rambling back garden melts away into the woods. All just right for one of Bedfordshire’s sweetest villages. Woburn and Whipsnade are in striking range, with the Shuttleworth Collection of vintage aircraft just down the lane. You’d never believe you were a 10-minute drive from the A1.
